| NEC West -- Audrey Thompson I am graduating in May 2004 from Gordon College School of Nursing, and I am extremely excited to reach this milestone in my life and career. I have a wonderful husband who is very supportive. I couldn't have made it this far without him. I became interested in nursing after working in hospitals to implement clinical information systems after graduating from UGA in 1999 with a B.B.A. in management. In addition to serving on the GANS Board and holding the office of Vice President of my school chapters (GCANS), I enjoy being involved with my church, singing, reading, and relaxing with friends. As NEC-West, my goals for the year will include raising awareness of GANS and all that it does, as well as recruiting talented and dedicated nursing students to serve on next year's Executive Board. To achieve this goal, I plan on working closely with the West District Director and the school chapters. I believe that nursing students and nurses can accomplish great things when we support our professional organizations and work together. NEC East -- Heather Kortes Hello everyone! I just wanted to start off by saying how excited I am to have become part of such a proactive bunch of students. Just a little bit of background on myself--I am a second year student at Macon State College in Macon, Georgia and will graduate in May 2004. I am currently the President of the Macon State College Association of Nursing Students. My goal this year basically includes establishing a more direct line of communication within my district. I want to keep not only my district, but all districts up to date on state and national issues. Encouraging all students to take part in our supportive organizations is also a concern of mine. I am looking forward to representing the East District and the state of Georgia as a whole. I wish everyone a great upcoming year! |
