Representative Jason Julian
Jason Julian is a junior at Bay City Central High School. Jason served in the House of Representatives, and took a special test on Parliamentary Procedure. His test score was extremely high, earning him the priviledge to run for Speaker of the House. Although he did not win his campaign, he came in 3rd place and did actually get to preside as Speaker when the other two Speaker's bills were brought before the floor. Here he is in all his glory bringing down the gavel to call for order in the House.
Q: On what committee did you serve while at Student Congress?
A: I was on the House Professional Development Committee.

Q: What were your duties?

A: Duties were to discuss what could be done to improve the faculty of schools, and draft a bill. Our group had to get other representatives to vote in favor of our bill on the floor of the House.

Jason making an emphatic remark during his interview with the Press Corps.
Q: In your own words, tell us what Student Congress is all about..
A: It's all about learning how the legislative process works, hands on. Through a role-playing simulation, you can easily understand what goes on in chambers.

Q: What did you learn of value while in Lansing?
A: I learned a lot more about Parliamentary Procedure, as well as about the actual proceedings of House chambers, having been there myself as a representative.
Q: How can someone get involved with Student Congress?
A: Ask your Debate coach. They work with the MIFA which is responsible for setting things up with state legislators.

Q: Finish the sentence. "Student Congress is for someone who..."
A: ...is interested in politics or having fun!

Final thoughts: I think Student Congress has influenced me more in achieving a career in politics. I really enjoyed the whole experience.
