John Paul Jones was a relaively successful, and one of the most well known privateers of the Revolutionary Era. On his ships, The Ranger, The Alfred and later the Bonhomme Richard, he raided English merchant ships in the Chespaeake Bay region. Today, in Washinton DC there is a statue erected in his memory, in Annapolis, in St. Anne's Church there is a plaque in his memory and for his accomplishments in helping the colonists win the war by thwarting British attempts to carry out regular maritime trade in the Chesapeake.

Perhaps the thing that most importantly demonstrstes Jones' impact on the Revolutionary War and the History of the Colonies and thsi country is his Crypt located at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland, complete with sculpture erected in his memory.
