Big
events do not mean anything to people unless these people
are parts of the events, or they implement the essence of
the events. Ones can implement the essence in their own
lives or in the societies. As Iam not a part of the
events that proclaimed and established the independence,
I would like to be like I am a part of them. Learning
valuable lessons from their histories, I always try to
implement my learning in my life.
I always want
to create a situation of teamwork among my friends. I
found it hard because we have different points of view.
However, I do not tolerate discouragement. Instead, I
keep trying . At the end, we always find that teamwork is
worthwhile. An example of the success of teamwork can be
seen in the Indonesians' struggle to retrieve back
Yogyakarta, the city which was used to be the capital
city, from the British Alliance. With teamwork, the
Indonesians successfully retrieved the capital city in
short time. Without teamwork, the retrieve would be
impossible because Indonesian military was much lesser
than one halfed of the the alliance soldiers.
The
independence always teach me the value of possession,
respect, and dignity. I was once a low esteemed boy who
could not think normally. I performed bad in my class and
my friends easily played me around. Life was full of
disapointments and failures. I wondered what caused those
things. Thank God (Alham dulillah) , my mother noticed,
and after I experienced a real celebration of the
Independence day, I thought more and looked into my self.
After I had lived for four years in overseas, in 17th August 1995 and in Indonesia, the celebration really taught
and reminded me of fighting spirit, self esteem, and
socialication. I found out that my sense of territory and
self esteem was missing. People who I knew did not get
the respect that they gave me. Furthermore, I did not try
hard to accomplish something. Since then, my life has
changed because I have been correcting all my mistakes,
and I have performed better in education, socialication,
and speaking.
Conclusively, I
improve because of the values of the independence day by
implementing the values in my life almost everyday.
