can be done by doing pleasant and interesting activities.
In the case of the celebration of Indonesian's
Independent day and every 17th August, groups
of Indonesians gather for planned activities and compete
with each other in the activities because of enjoyment
and socialication, but not victories. At the end, the
celebration unites people from different backgrounds ,
and teach them more how to socialize.
Indonesians
from different generations celebrate the day. Some
celebrations from different generations are planned
specifically just for them because they have different ages
or their ways of thinking are not all the same.
The
children whose ages range from as young as one to as old
as twelve years old enjoy the independence day by playing
games and quiz, doing sports, drawing pictures, reading
poetry and doing many more. Most children like to play
games. Racing a marble or an egg which is carried on a
spoon that is hanged on a mouth is the famous game.
Laughter, claps and cries of the children describe the
game. Many flags in different shapes, people in many
forms, tanks, buildings are objects in the drawing of the
children. However, similarly, their moods show their pictures as
happiness and celebration. They are not experts in
drawings, yet their techniques and coloring are very
brave. In schools, the teachers of elementary schools
pick their students to participate in the schools'
competitions. Students who like to perform in front of
crowd compete in singing, poetry, and quiz. Others who do
not like and shy compete in drawings. For average children, sports
like soccer, badminton, running in the distance of 50
meter are suitable. If they are as strong as adult, they
might compete in 10 K marathon. However, averagely, they
are not.
The
teenage celebrate the day with plenty of choices. They
can choose activities that children or adults do.
However, their choices are improvised in accordance to
their ways of thinking and creativities which result in
creating specific activities. Chilren read poetries, but
the teens write and read their poets because they want
their minds to develop and be different. High School
Students participate in quizes that require them to
submit their best research papers which are made by
thinking and creativities. The quizes in elementary
schools only require the students to answer questions of
basic knowledge. Furthermore, the teens planned the celebration.
Essentialy, the youths creatively celebrate one of the
most important days for Indonesians with dignity and
integrity.
The
adults have many ways of celebrating the day. They play
soccer, compete in singing and cooking. Fathers
who work and play golf have golfing competitions with
their colleagues. Mothers from different backgrounds
tailor their best costumes and cook their best food. In
general, their activities are about socialication.
Fathers play golf to get to know their colleagues more.
Mothers tailor costumes and cook their best food not only
because of competition, but also donation in the best of
ways. Other food who does not win the competitions and
the best food are donated to the needies.
In some
activities, the celebration can be done together. Every
17th August, thropies or plaques are given to
the family or the community who has the cleanest environment.
When we say a family or a community, that will mean sons,
daughters, fathers, mothers, adults, teens, and
children.
As we
always know, there are reasons to have celebrations. In
17th August 1945, the proclaimed and declared
independence day was an important cornerstone for
Indonesia to grow normally. However, Indonesia can not
grow well unless Indonesians are prepared and mature.
Luckily, every year, the celebration of independence day
reminds them of the war and hardship that our heroes
experienced to declare the independence. Moreover, it
prepares the minds of Indonesians to always unite and
think positive. Without the values of the celebrations,
Indonesians are not prepared to face the future.
