Timisoara High Schools involvement
School students in Timisoara became active participants in the project.  It started with several presentation dedicated to the project "Portland – Timisoara Cities of Roses" in front of students from the Plastic Arts High school, Carmen Silva High School, Calderone High School, General School number 2 and Grigore Moisil High School.  The initiative belongs to the Seniors Council of Timisoara and the City Hall of Timisoara.

He purpose of presentations was to mobilize students for the following tasks:

  1. Participation at the Rose Festival in Portland in 2008 with drawings and pictures.
  2. Support for voluntary maintenance work in the Park of Roses, one of the symbols of Timisoara.
  3. Empowering students to contribute to the site of the project with fresh ideas and enthusiasm and transferring a large part of the administrative work to their responsibility.
  4. Encourage students to create personal connections using the Internet with other young people in Portland, to benefit from a better knowledge of the world where we live.

The presentations were received with high interest and many students expressed their availability to participate.  At the General School number 2 the students planted a number of rose bushes in front of the school, a donation from the City Hall of Timisoara.

It is expected that by November 15th we will have the list of the voluntary participants, the larger number, the better.  The participants will be encouraged to have the largest possible involvement, to discover their own resources: entrepreneurship, leadership quality, talent, team spirit, enthusiasm; to establish through group negotiations their own implementation goals, steps, schedule and monitoring criteria; to use this project as an opportunity to discover their own strengths and qualities. It is expected that the teachers involved, while having a major importance, will mainly have a guiding and advising role.
