"The Rose-symbol of our City"
Art Exhibition

An Art Exhibition opened on October 1st with more than 120 paintings, drawings and pictures, dedicated to the Rose, one of the symbols of the City of Timisoara.  This is the common effort of students from three high schools of Timisoara: Theoretical High School Gr.Moisil, Pedagogical High School Carmen Silva and Plastic Arts High School.  Mr.Nicu Vlad, head of the Inter-generations Commission, played a major role in coordinating the project.  Out of the 120 works presented there was first a selection of 25 of them and finally there were 6 considered winners presented in the order of their value.

This exhibition is part of a series of four contests.  The next ones are planned on December 1st, March 8th and May 2nd 2008. The best works will be sent to the Rose Festival in Portland in 2008.  If their authors agree, they will be offered for sale to raise funds for a further extension of the project "Portland Timisoara Cities of Roses".  It is planned that some of the teenagers that took part in the contest will be given the chance to directly present their works in Portland at the Rose Festival, if enough funds will be raised.  The teenagers in Timisoara will be encouraged to establish direct contacts with some other young people in Portland and share emails and personal experiences, before that moment.

I believe that the real winner of this contest is anyone that took part in it.  Therefore I will show some other works that were displayed in the exhibition, with a very guilty conscience that I cannot present all the 120 of them.
