What If?
These are 3 most likely scenarios to happen if everyone was tornado educated:
1.
They would have gone to low ground and abandoned any cars or easy to lift objects.
The reason for abandoning cars is because they can be lifted up and smashed easily
by such a strong wind force, the people inside wouldn't stand a chance against the tornado
If people just followed these simple rules then the deaths rate
for tornados would be a lot less, although the injuries would most likely stay about the same.
2.
Many people could have forgotten from being over-run by instinct and adrenaline,
this would have caused a big problem and most people would forget what they were taught
about. Although they would still know the basics of tornados, for example staying low to the
ground. Most likely they would panic and try to flee in cars but since the cars back then were
extremely weak the tornado (moving at 70 mph) would easily get them and the car wouldn't
stand a chance. Even this would still save some lives but not all of them, but this didn't happen
so it's still a theory of what I think would happen.
3.
This is what actually happened. Nobody actually knew what to do or how to survive
in the event of a tornado like this and as a result 695 people died.
But these people didn't have any warning of the tornado before-hand so it really wasn't
their fault by not getting ready or having a plan. This was because weather technology
and satellites weren't invented until the 1980's and current events had no fast way to get around.
There was nothing really that they could do to save themselves at that time because
that day would be a day full of split-second decisions which would make or break their future.
