Tornados can be very destructive and also last a long time. | |
|
| The Tri-State Tornado ripped through three states | |
|
| and devastated 13 counties. The three states were Missouri, Illinois and Indiana. | |
|
| Parrish (one of the towns that was completely destroyed) was never rebuilt | |
|
| and now stands as a historic town of rubble. It's now a popular tourist attraction, | |
|
|
but many are there to remember those who died and also | |
|
|

| This town is a reminder to those that don't think of tornados as a threat, | ||
| and since then people have been more prepared and less deaths have occurred. | ||
| 15,000 houses were destroyed and 695 lives were lost, | ||
| also the Tri-State Tornado lasted 3 and a half hours which is a tornado record. | ||
| Many people were left homeless after this disaster and many also left | ||
| heartbroken at the loss of one of their friends and/or family members. | ||
| The reason for this tornado lasting so long is unknown and | ||
| scientists are researching further into it but it proves that | ||
| not all tornados only last a few minutes. | ||
| Most People were not tornado educated and didn't prepare | ||
| for the tornado, although satellites and weather indicators | ||
| were not invented until the 1980's, so that is probably the reason the 10 | ||
| most destructive tornados in history were held before the 1950's. |
