It's
been a good year!
In fact 1998 was a great year and it looks like
1999 is set to be even better. Since the present line-up first got together
at the end of 1997, Divorced From Reality have been taking the Blues scene
by storm with their own, individual brand of Jazz influenced Blues - a
mixture of original numbers and carefully chosen covers given the DFR
treatment, to bring them to life in a whole new way.
SOME
HIGHLIGHTS OF 1998
(and a few things
to look forward to in '99)
|
The
Limelight Club, Crewe, Cheshire.
|
 |
|
DFR were regulars at the Sunday
'R&B Experience' nights at the Limelight throughout '98. Getting
a great reception from this warm Blues loving audience.
The band will be back at the Limelight
again in 1999. If you live anywhere within driving distance this
is a great venue to see DFR at their bluest and best.

|
The Great
British R&B Festival at Colne, Lancashire.
|
 |
|
August bank holiday saw the first appearance of
the band at the UK's premier Blues festival, before a very enthusiastic
crowd at The Conservative Club, one of the main roadhouse venues.
1999 sees DFR's return to the festival
but this year the band will be playing on Monday 30th on The British
Stage.

Granvilles,
Stone, Staffordshire.
|
The Cafe
Jazbar, Liverpool, Merseyside.
|
|
Though one of the smaller venues DFR played during
'98, this high-class restaurant and bar regularly plays host to
some of the top names in Jazz. The band had some great nights here
during the year - especially the night back in September when they
packed the place with adoring fans. Click
here to read the review of this gig that appeared in Blueprint
Magazine.
DFR are back at Granvilles in August
- great food - great wine - great music - what more could you ask
for. See you there.
|
Back in November DFR had one of their best gigs
so far at Jazz FM Radio's Cafe Jazbar on Liverpool's historic Albert
Dock. A delighted audience of young and old alike listened and danced
into the night to their first taste of the DFR magic.
The band are back at the Cafe Jazbar
in February for their first gig there of 1999 - see the Gigs
page for details.

Satchmo's
Lazy Bar, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.
|
There were of course many other
memorable events like the band's first live radio performance
and a couple of smashing gigs at the sadly missed Blues Club in
Glossop.
Also to look out for in 1999 will
be DFR's first appearance at the Burnley Blues Festival on Easter
Saturday and Sunday the 3rd and 4th of April and on Sunday July
18th they will be headlining at the Stafford Blues and Folk Festival.
Keep your fingers crossed for good weather - this is an outdoor
event in the grounds of Stafford castle.
|
|
This new Jazz/Blues venue opened back in July and
has quickly established itself as a first class venue with a bright
future. DFR were one of the first bands to play there and are rapidly
building a growing fan base here.
The band are back at Satchmo's in
March - Get there early for a good seat!
