
WBC/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis told the BBC, "I want one fight. Once I get Mike Tyson out of the way, then I will probably retire." Mike Tyson is now the WBC's manadatory challenger to Lewis, but before the fight can be made, HBO and Showtime must reach an agreement on who will handle the pay-per-view, and so far neither network has been willing to give an inch.
Promote Classic, a promoter is Kuala Lumpur, Mayalsia had announced a Tyson-Lewis clash for January 21 in the 100,000 seat National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, and had in fact had already sold tickets. The promoter now says "The much awaited boxing event will still be held in Kuala Lumpur as promised although there has been a slight delay." A Tyson fight in Malaysia had been talked about for January 21, but Tyson-Lewis on that date was never a reality. Mavrovic officially retires Former European heavyweight champion and world title challenger Zeljko Mavrovic has announced his retirement. Mavrovic, 32, is best known for going the distance with Lennox Lewis, two and half years ago. Mavrovic did not fight again after the Lewis defeat but he did earn the respect of boxing fans and insiders throughout the world in his gallant championship effort. Upon his decision to retire Zeljko said "I have no more motive to box with the world's best, and I was never ready for some kind of semi-solution" Mavrovic is a gentleman and it's a sad loss to professional boxing.

KO Magazine gives Lennox 'Nuff Respect. Top American boxing publication KO Magazine is now available in full color. In their first all color issue, February 2001, the magazine writes about Lennox Lewis, saying that he's the real McCoy. "This champ is the whole package. Lennox spends Thanksgiving in Beverly Hills, CA. Heavyweight king Lennox Lewis has spent Thanksgiving week in Beverly Hills, California, filming and doing photoshoots. Lennox attended a dinner/benefit for Muhammad Ali and recieved the biggest applause from the star-studded crowd which included Will Smith, Muhammad Ali, Oscar DeLa Hoya and Robert Wagner to name a few.
