In our society we have many stereotypes. The dictionary defines a stereotype as; a conventional, formulaic, and oversimplified conception, opinion, or image. Stereotyping can lead to many harmful consequences. It could result in hatred, fear or even death. We have come along way in educating everyone about the different races and cultures we have in our world. However there are still people who still have these negative images. The cause could be the way these people were brought up or it could even be that they follow what other people say.
I want to figure out why some people feel this way. I want to decipher the origin of stereotyping. I also want to know how people today feel about other races, and how they feel living with them day to day. When I find this out I would like to educate everyone who is till harboring these feelings for other races.

I have chosen this topic because being a minority myself I have seen and felt what it�s like to be spoken down to. This is important to me because I don�t want future generations to have to suffer through any hardship. Everyone should be well informed about how people stereotype one another. They should know that its does hurt some people, and it is inconsiderate. I feel if I could stop stereotyping, we would be one more step to having a more peaceful tomorrow.
During this semester I will find the cause of stereotyping and try my best to end it. I will gather information starting from the year 1960 to the year 2004. I will find out how other people feel about stereotyping and how people have changed over the years. I will gather all my information from numerous online sources. I will need to contact groups fighting against stereotyping that I will find online. I might not be able to make a huge difference on the world but will do my best to inspire other people to follow in my path for peace.
