Imagine this; you are a freshman going into Schreiber. It is now lunch time you go into the cafeteria for the first time, what do you see?  You see a cafeteria full of different races and different cliques.  You see the Asian kids or “F.O.B.” (fresh off the boat) sitting with the Asian kids, you see the Spanish kids sitting with the Spanish kids, you see the jocks hanging out with the other jocks, you see the “popular” kids sitting with other “popular” kids and you see the “nerds” sitting with other “nerds”.  Why is this?  Has our race really become so dependent on same race relationships or does being a certain kind of person separate you form others?

It is very common for a person of a different race to rely on people of the same race.  They feel a certain oneness with them, share a common language, and believe they can face adversity together.  It is also common for people of a different race, to feel that do not need to associate themselves with anyone other then the people in their own race.

It’s not wrong to depend on others who you feel comfortable with he problem is you lose the ability to be able to assimilate or experience another culture or race.  Another problem with this is it creates a language barrier.  This language barrier will only allow one language to pass through and expel the others.

Race is not the only thing separating the cafeteria.  Different cliques are another huge impact of what goes on in there.  In Schreiber the different groups are uncountable. However there are those groups that we can always identify.  Those groups are the jocks, the “popular” kids, the Goths, and the “nerds”.  They separate themselves so much that it leaves interaction with one another impossible.

The gap between one other (the race and clique gaps) can be filled.  It’s not an impossible feat to do.  One solution that can fix this is to have everyone sit with people they normally don’t sit with.  They could talk and find out what they have in common and be able to share their thought or spread some advice to one another.  It is a very large gap between all the cliques and all of the different races however there is always a solution.
