Athens

First we visit the Athenian Agora, or market place. Typical to most cities of Ancient Greece the "Forum" was the center of commerce and trade throughout the city.

This is the temple of Hephestos as seen from the Acropolis

When we first come upon the Acropolis  we notice the temple of Athena Nike. Dedicated to Nike after the Greek's win over the Persians.

This is the Erechtheion. This building had two purposes. The eastern section was for the worship of Athena, and the western was dedicated to the cult of Erectheas.

This is the porch of the Kores. It has no purpose but to display the six columns called Karyatides.
