Mind

Our minds are like empty cups and you can fill it up with what ever you want! Polarity comes into play as it always does when our mind focuses on any concept (the ol' yin yang thing again). I mean, our minds can think in two ways, either connecting objects, thoughts and emotions or....dissecting them. The mind can dissect and dissect as long as there are human type minds around to go for it. You know, this is hot that's cold, he’s tall your short, he’s rich and he’s poor, black and white, up and down, order or chaos, space/time, micro and macro and on and on and on.

So what's the connection?..... simple....your mind can see similarities as well as the differences. The connection is always you, without you there are NO opposites. It takes a mind like yours to discern them. This implies that you can use your mind, just like we use our legs, our arms and other parts of our anatomy.

"Don’t Mess with Mr. In Between"

Robocop lost his mind. Physically (total lobotomy). Somehow he could still remember who he was, that always bugged me. You know, like people with amnesia, they always still remember what a tree is or there's a sky up there. They might not know who they, but they haven’t bloody well forgotten where they are.

I suppose we can get detoured into a debate on terminology about the word mind. Lets say the word mind is something else other than the physical brain (the brain is the vehicle) and its automated functions. To go a step further, using the above argument, lets say that mind is the calculator and interpreter of of the phenomenal world defined by the extremes of the two opposites.

We use our minds to discriminate, label and individualise (just to think, write or speak and BE, creates the necessity to do so),......... But in all this division man seeks a constant, a oneness. Unfortunately, any concept has to be broken down to smaller an smaller components just to explain it (if you feel the need to). Mythologies and religions since recorded time have major flaws of logic as they grope with "one" and it's aspects. There are trinities, pantheons, avatars, gods that have two personalities or faces, the stories are endless as the "one" permutates and a demarkartion of new entity comes into being, e.g. the god Ra of egyptian mythology.

Also, the intelligent investigator is always aware of the fact he or she can only get to know one small part of the whole in a lifetime. What's worse every part is a clue to the paradox so the need for investigation can become endless. Unfortunately no one can take a step outside of the universe and see the BIG view (Some will debate that some can). In zen buddhism its not important to "know" any "part", everything is a hologram of "it", "Ya seen one atom, well, ya've seen em all"

Throughout the world there are many systems that have evolved to quantify or simplify (round down) all phenomena. Science and Religion both seek a SINGULARITY and prove me wrong, both sink into dualism.

Thus the contents, focus and labeling of our mind as well its divide and marry functions are ours to choose, but it always works within the realm (parameters) of duality.

That really Old Big Book

Tarot, Astrology, Numerology, are some old systems of thought that are still used in modern Western and Eastern society that are works of the human mind that try to simplify the chaos. The Rosary is also an ordered system of Faith, as is the Trinity. In the Orient, the I Ching, on which yin/yang form the basic principles of its operation, is used to define and divine the world. The old mythologies of all the Major Cultures have common denominators and equivalents amongst their deities. I suppose they all got together once and discussed it and thats why there are so many coincidences? take for example (one of many) the Goddesses of Love--Ishtar (Babylonian)> Hathoor (Egyptian)> Aphrodite (Greek)> Venus (Roman)> Freya (Norse). Who have their antithesis in the Gods of War or Vengeance...Marduk, Horus, Aries, Mars, Tyr. Here man has personified the emotion of passion. The opposites of passion relate, lust and blood lust, ... passion taken to extremes, and each mythical story goes to explain man's inner passion, and man not wanting to be accountable for it, transferred it into a deity that controlled mans will.

I guess, ironically, Christianity bought a sense of accountability (well to some anyway...ha ha ha argh...) The cultures of the so called third world also have an order or hierarchy in their cosmologies. Normally this hierarchy is personified by "natural" environmental forces or the biological food chain pertaining to animals and plants found in the region. All rely on the dualism to set the parameters of the creation myth, the ensuing order and the behaviour of the deified stakeholders.

......and in the smithy of my soul....I go and forge the uncreated consciousness of my race......

The Modern Pantheon

To Destroy and Deliver

TITAN, YOU CARRY THE WORLD ON YOUR SHOULDERS

THOUGH NO LONGER UNDER IMMORTAL DECREE,

WRATH OF POSIEDON FROM UNDER SEA.

HOW LETHAL HIS HARPOON,

UNERRINGLY THE FLIGHT OF HIS TRIDENT.

SATURN NO LONGER BOUND TO EARTHLY CONFINE,

APOLLO’S CHARIOT OF FIERY DESIGN.

BOTH DESTINED TO THE HEAVENS OF OLD,

SATURN TO YOUR KIN YOU RETURN,

APOLLO, SISTER YOU EMBRACE AT LAST.

IMMORTALITY LOST TO A MORTAL LIFESPAN

THE FATES COULD BE HERE IN A MINUTEMAN.

Anyone that has an understanding of how computer technology works, knows of parameters. Parameters are really boundaries or borders to create an arena of activity and events. The importance of this is practical and symbolic. Without these closed borders there would be no control of information it would all run together. Like a book that has one ever continuing page without paragraphs or punctuation or like a football field that didn't have sidelines, a halfway line or try lines and all the players wore the same guernsey.

The mind and computers need to set up blocks of information to define and discriminate, to parcel up our world so we don’t run into each other. Look at a library and see the way information is parceled up and also the unique way in which we can find a piece of it, through symbolised signposts, that categorise, title and label. The same as folders, sub folders, and program icons do for computers.

The penultimate parameters of our universe is the pattern of duality. We make grades of in betweens and label them as if they were separate entities. There is a blending or grey area where these defined extremes meet. Take the rainbow for example, or the seasons, this pattern is true for any concept (the concept becomes a singularity, that fleeting singularity instantly divides the moment you focus your mind upon it).

You can say that the mind can create any concept or label

but there is always strings attached.

Not to Mention Marco Polo

What makes the poles attracted

Who can Explain,

They call it magnetism

But that's just a name,

Man and Woman

Could that be the same?

All part of the universe

Or part of its game.

Minorities or Majorities under whatever banners

What turns you on

Thats all that Matters.
