Notebook My Easter Pilgrimage to Our Lady of Walsingham Notebook

Over the 1997 Easter weekend, I went on a pilgrimage to Walsingham. After my return, I posted a three part narrative of my journey on a listserv I once subscribed to: FRANCIS-L (Ecumenical, Inclusive. Franciscan Listerv). I have also included them here on my Walsingham homepage.

NEW I was able to return to Walsingham at the end of August, after completing an 8 month tenure as Intern Librarian at the Florida State University's London Study Centre. Walsingham was the first stop on a two week self-guided tour of England which also took me to Ladyewell at Fernyhalgh, and Holywell of St. Winifride in Wales. I arrived during an auspicsious moment....the Centenary Pilgrimage marking the Centenary of the Restoration of Catholic Pilgrimage to Walsingham. I am working on transposing my notes to narrative form and will add them to the site, as I did for my Easter pilgrimage.

Essays related to Walsingham and Marian devotion

I am in the process of writing a series of essays on various aspects of Walsingham, beginning with an informal essay on the concept of Marian devotion for Anglicans today. As yet, none of my major essays are ready: .

These essays will be designed to introduce the reader to the concepts of Walsingham and the Annunciation, Intercession and Intercessory Prayer, the Communion of Saints. the place of Mary in Catholic faith and devotion, and what place Mary should have in our hearts today. My eventual goal is to link all these essays into a harmonious whole, ending with an invitation to enter the Shrine and leave your own prayers. With your patience and support, I will be able to accomplish my goal.
