reactive polymers - genealogy - church service

A - Chemical Activities

Forty five years experience in synthetic and analytical chemistry, macromolecular chemistry, mainly in ion exchange polymers, special polymeric sorbents,

carriers of different functions and reactive polymers generally.

Engaged as research worker, scientist, tutor for graduates, co-author in inland and foreign projects. Attention paid to different matrices (formaldehyde resins, styrene and acrylic crosslinked polymers, bead cellulose) and functional groups (ionic, chelating, reactive of different kind e.g.with ability for immobilization of the biofunctions)

Degrees

1951 Ing (M.) at Czech University of Technology in Prague

1959 CSc. (Ph.D.) at Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague

1975 DrSc. (D.Sc.) at Inst.of Macromol.Chemistry in Prague

(public defence of thesis not permitted by communist regime, ideological reasons)

Visiting research scientist

1968 one year at Columbia University in the City of New York, USA

1981 two months at Institute of Polymer Chemistry, Teltow, GDR

1984 several weeks at Central Institute of Molecular Biology, Berlin, GDR)

Engagements

1945-1949 Chemical Works in Usti nad Labem, research chemist

1949-1955 Research Institute of Technical Chemistry, research chemist
Research Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, research chemist

1955-1962  Research Institute of Synthetic Resins and Lacquers, scientific worker

1962-1987 Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, Czech.Acad.of Sci., leading scientist

Results

Included in 109 papers (papers), 41 reports (reports), 83 patents (patents) and 4 books (books)

Appraisement

1964, 1968, 1971, 1973 – gratuity of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences

1985 – joint prize of the Czech.Acad.of Sci. and GDR Academy of Sciences

1987 – prize of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences

2001 – Velký slovník osobností vědy a kultury příbramského regionu (Great Encyclopedia of Personalities in the Science and the Arts of the Pribram Region, Library Pribram, 2001)

I would appreciate to discuss my results and learn about the new ones.

B - Genealogical research

Twenty years activities in assembling the family tree.

The surname Stamberg is occurring quite rarely in Europe and USA. According to my results this name is of Bohemian origin (now Czech Republic). Most probably, it has arisen by lingual influence of the Czech environment upon German original name forms (Sternberg, Starnberg. Starhenberg etcet.). My results about Stamberg´s (in Czech and English) go down to 17th century and

I am prepared to share my results with new collaborators.

C - Church service

Believing in God like chemist - appreciating the approach of F. Newton Hayes, Ph.D.(see in English or Czech ). More than twenty five years gratis help in Czech catholic churches devastated by atheistic bolshewig administration - serving at conduct of sacral places, at altar, and at organ-lof. It was in monastic basilica of St Margaret, Prague 6-Břevnov and in two churches of the parish Karlštejn – church of St Stanislav and of St Palmacius. After the change of regime – 1989 - active as amateur organist and vocalist in two parochial churches of town Pribram – at St Adalbert and St Jacob.

I am looking forward to the global discussion

about all three points of my activities!
