Some of you know me as Becky, or Aurora, or GollyGirl, or FeenixRed but all in all it's still me, Rebekah in Canada. I'm a mother, computer consultant, writer, and Wiccan. Ihave two children Jacqueline and Joshua who are eight and six, two years and four days apart, and are a source of constant joy (and stress!) to me.
As a mother I am constantly reminded about the wonder of the world we live in. Things like taking a subway lost their mystical uniqueness to me until I took a ride with my children and got caught up in their delight of the fast moving train. Even everyday 'mundane' chores (like laundry) become an adventure when I do them with my kids. For those of you who don't have children and are worn out by the everyday stress of life spend time in the world of a small cousin, neice or nephew and you'll be surprised at how great you feel afterwards.
Me as a computer consultant..... hmmm, that's the toughy since most look at me and say "You're Becky?!?" when I show up to fix what's wrong with their computers. I don't know everything there is to know about computers (if anyone does could you drop me a line? I'd like to pick your brain for a millennia!) so I know when to go for help. But spending time with my computer friends, one in particular, has given me insight into what really goes on in that metal box that confounds so many. But don't talk to me about hardware!! UGH! I know a few 'specialists' (or Dr. Frankenstiens) that would do a good job for you.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm obsessed by the written word. Like most writers I hate writing, but it seems that if I don't write my stories I tend not to sleep, eat, or function as a human being. I write science fiction, fantasy, romance and erotica, which is not a broad base considering some of my favourite writers. Unlike most writers I'm an awful story teller, unless I write it it ain't worth a damn, but I do read to my children. Unfortunately that has passed my obsession to my children who now have to have every book they see in the store. :)
Music is one of the main ingrediants in my life. As a teenager I wanted to be Madonna (Alright! No comments from the peanut gallery thank you!) and went as far as recording some songs in a professional studio with some good friends but alas twas not meant to be and now I am a part time musician and music is a constant in our household.
Wicca, witchcraft, the occult and supernatural have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a child I was raised Conservative Jewish so I had a healthy dose of jewish mysticism but unfortunately it wasn't my path (much to the horror of my parents) so I became a Seeker. But the one thing that guided my search was my own instincts about psychic phenomena. I've read almost everything I could get my hands on about psychic powers and the supernatural but I really didn't really find my path until I met my first Wiccans. At thirteen I did my own Dedication Rite under the stars in the revine down the street from my house. At sixteen I was fully initiated into First Degree, at twenty-three I met the Circle and was initiated into Second Degree, at twenty-four I joyfully attained Third Degree. Wicca is only one in a myriad of religions and may not be right for some that is why at birth my children were only Dedicated into the watchful observance of the God and Goddess, when the time is right and they've given some thought, they will find their own path in life. Be it Judaism, Wicca, Christian, Moslem, Buddhist or whatever I will love them no less for thier choice.
Well, there you have it. That's me, you haven't run screaming from the page yet then you're doing fine. :)
