The Blue Suburban Story:

Why They Formed

Tired of all original bands that cost time, money, and frustration, the guys who became the Blue Suburbans formed the band in an effort to find a professional outlet for their passion for music ...

Pat picks up the story

"By 93 I had been playing in a bunch of bands that seemed to fizzle just as things got going... original bands that ran out of money ... coverbands that went in circles ... I met Richard who was asking for help looking for a guitarist .. I asked what kind of music .. he said commercially viable R&B and classic rock (sounded organized) ... he also stated that he (the singer) owned his own complete PA system ... I though "boy if this guy can sing, this could be good!"

"Well, Richard can sing like a powerhouse (he was once in a WHO tribute band ) and he indeed owns a real PA system and best of all ... he is not a typical lead singer ... that's right! he does not have an attitude problem, girlfriend problem, drug problem, or any other typical lead singer drawbacks. Most important of all he actually owns the whole PA system ... after many bands of frustration the potential was too good to be true ...

"That was 1993 and now in 1998 the BLUE SUBURBANS have become the REALLY COOL band we had all hoped to play in ... along the way, we have picked up Brain Mckinnon (bass player) and backing vocalist extrordinaire... and most recently Andre Mendes who's the kick in the pants behind every groove. When the drummer is right everything seems easy .. ANDRE makes everything sound good ... Marv "the lip" Robinson has been our sax player from the beginning and he rounds out the lineup with everyone's favorite instrument GOOD SAX. Marv is our resident JAZZ pro and R&B historian ... but best of all when the SAX comes out the dance floor fills up ... Marv gets all the girls !!!"
