1.1 About the Crafthall

Masterweaver: Opa
Craftsecond: Varina
Mastertailor: Jorai
Apprentice Master: Broccal

Weaving, tailoring, knitting, etc. are holdcrafts practiced by many men and women on Pern, as there is a constant demand for clothing, rugs and tapestries, especially during a Pass. The Weavercraft, however, is the best at making most fabrics, and has access to more patterns and techniques than the individual holds. Boasting an on-site museum that holds samples of past craftmasters' handiworks, as well as silks and other complex fabrics and patterns from the Ancient times, the main crafthall in Southern Boll is one of the larger halls on Pern. The Weavercraft has five subcrafts: fibre production, dyeing, knitting, tailoring and weaving. Apprentices start out unspecialized and may choose a subcraft upon being promoted to Journeyranker.

Further information about the Weavers is available by typing '+info weaver', or checking out our local help.

1.2 About the Region

The Weavercrafthall is situated at the southwest tip of the Northern Continent, just a few minutes' walk away from Southern Boll Hold. As such, it is under the protection of Fort Weyr. Being so far south, the climate at the Crafthall is extremely warm. The weather tends to be scorching during the summer, and very dry in the wintertime, although considerably warmer in the cold season than the more northern Holds.

1.4 Weavercraft Knots

Knots are a global system on PernMUSH. Every organization has its own knot, which its members have access to. There are a number of commands involved in the knot systems, and they can be quite confusing, but help on their usage is available. The following information will be helpful for members of the Weavercraft knot.

A 'Y' in this key indicates that the weaver is cleared to interview would-be apprentices.

MENTOR

POSTING
Where the weaver is posted

PROJECT
What the weaver is currently working on (talk to a knot admin to get this set for you)

POSITION
The position of the person (such as 'Craftsecond')

S
Indicates the chores section an apprentice is in

STU
Abbreviation for which subcraft the weaver is in. Choices are: GEN (general, for those who haven't specialised), FIB (fibre production), DYE (dyeing), KNT (knitting), TLR (tailoring) and WVR (weaving)

1.4.2 Macros

A Weavercraft macro can be accessed by the command '+roster/wvr ' while online. The Weavercraft knot has the following macros:

1.4.3 Rosters

A Weavercraft roster can be accessed by typing '+roster/wvr [=/]' while online. The Weavercraft knot has the following rosters:

Default
The roster which everyone on PernMUSH can access. Displays a person's idle time, name, rank, posting, subcraft and location.

Info
Chart of 'technical' information. Displays whether a person is connected, whether quiet on the chat channel, their name, sex, time on for, idle time, when last connected and location.

Nonweaver
Chart of resident and staff-related information. Displays a person's sex, name, position, project and status.
