Tobacco Industries

How does the tobacco industries try to market their products to young people?
Contradictions?
Why would anyone want to smoke? Youngsters are extremely well-informed about the hazards of tobacco. Nevertheless, the onset of smoking has increased by one third in the last three years. This drastic rise in the numbers of children who smoke occurred despite enormous expenditure of time, energy and money spent on tobacco education programs. How could this be so?
Parents, teachers and physicians have consciously tried to appeal to the logic of small children that smoking is harmful and help them understand that they need not succumb to peer pressure. Even when we provide the information to the child so that he would not fall into the tobacco "trap", he would still fall.
Why is this so? The reason is the tobacco industry knows that the act of lighting-up for the first time is stimulated by DESIRE, not thoughts or information. The industry also knows that people make choices on the emotional level where desires are formed.
Kids Smoke.
With all this facts in their pockets, they know that it is easy to make children their "slaves" for life. This is why they have commercials that are appealing to youngsters. An example is the use of glamorous images that promise acceptance and acceptability. They have also been able to control the child's emotions by associating tobacco products with patriotic symbols, the great outdoors, weight control, sports, freedom, adventure, independence and sexual conquest.
