Recruited into the Bureau after studying psychology at Oxford, Agent Fox Mulder is one of the FBI´s greatest detectives. But far from pursuing what could have been a stellar career withing the FBI, he chose "the basement office with the heat". His photographic memory and his background as a psychologist has helped him to profile many serial killers. Mulder was on a fast track in the FBI when he took a detour into the paranormal, and this made him dig into the X-Files and it also gave some higher officials in the Bureau cause to believe him eccentric, reinforcing the nickname "Spooky", given to him in the acadamy. Only his network of contacts in the Congress and other halls of power has allowed him to continue his investigations in the face of official indifference and covert opposition. Opposed by enemies within the Bureau itself and beyond, the only person he can trust absolutely is his partner Dana Scully. He is now obcessed with discovering the truths hidden in the X-Files, a repository for the extraordinary, the unexplained and the supernatural, convinced by hyptic regression that his sister Samantha was abducted by some unknown power when they were children. Fox claims that she was abducted by aliens - and that his father had something to do with it.
