General Public Safety Info
Police service is provided by cities, county sheriffs, and the Oregon State Patrol. Structural fire service is provided by city FDs, FPDs, VFDs, and at least one regional FD (Tuallatin Valley near Portland). There are no County FDs. Wildfire protection = USFS protects the National Forest lands - BLM protects BLM lands in Eastern OR - State Forestry protects other local lands + Western OR BLM lands - structural FDs also protect local lands. Extrications from motor vehicle crashes is done by structural FDs. SAR is done by local SAR groups. Ambulances are operated by various local agencies (FDs, private, hospitals). County Amb Services protect Jefferson Co + Morrow Co + Union Co + Wallowa Co. There are 37 ambulance services in OR + multiple Quick Response Units (BLS teams that do not transport victims).

Washington County
Washington County ( ORE ) 911 Center was down again Saturday (16Dec00) for 3 1/2 hours. Verizon was doing a software upgrade and somehow the phone system to the 911 center was affected. Went down around 2:30 A.M. and was back 4:45 a.m. A person notified dispatch of the problem by calling in on the non emergency line to report a loud party. Was getting busy signal on 911. This is the 3 major failure since this Summer. The voters in the past election gave to ok for funds to upgrade the system.

Crater Lake National Park
Crater Lake Natl Park probably has 1 structural fire pumper plus 1 brush truck plus 1 ambulance. I think they have 1 lookout tower also.
