Plymouth County Public Safety
Plymouth County is divided into towns. Each town provides police, fire, and ambulance service to its area. Extensive mutual aid is shared among all departments. The County Sheriff Office does not operate road patrols - they just operate the County Jail and the County Comm Center. The County Comm Center only handles mutual aid comms for fire departments and ambulance-to-hospital radio patches. Each town operates its own dispatch center(s). State Forestry augments local FDs with lookout towers, small pumpers, and helicopter support. The State Police operates patrol units on the limited access highways and provides advanced crime investigation services. The State Dept of Environmental Management Police operate boats and off road patrol units in order to enforce environmental and hunting regulations.
Boston MedFlite operates one EMS helo from the Plymouth Airport. Paramedic units operate from Duxbury, Weymouth, Plymouth, and Brockton. FDs are moving to upgrade their BLS ambulances to ALS status. Hospitals are located in Plymouth, Brockton, Wareham, and Weymouth.

PDs operate in the 482Mhz band with some channels shared by several towns. FDs are moving from the 33Mhz band to the 453Mhz band. 154.295 is the County Fire/EMS mutual aid freq.
