The department was founded with the particular objective of building young engineers having requisite theoretical knowledge and enough practical skills capable of handling practical problems on shop floor and to meet the recent requirements of the market.
The department is fortunate to have highly qualified and learned faculty and motivated students body. The curriculum has been designed after consulting industrial experts and learned faculty from institutes of national repute and keeping an eye on the latest market trends. The students of Electrical Engineering are given specialization in Electrical Machines & Power Apparatus which give them technical know-how of core electrical engg.

- SWITCHGEAR PROTECTION & POWER SYSTEM AUTOMATION
As swift advances are taking place in the industries like the use of online SCADA, AGC & EMS system for automatic control of interconnected system; use of SVS, HVDC converters in Power Electronics in integrated control and protection system. The course material has been diversified so that it caters to the specified requirements of the industries. Following advanced subjects have been introduced in the curriculum :
- Advanced Microprocessors programming & interfacing
- Computer Aided Power System Analysis
- EHV-AC & HVDC Engg.
- Electric Traction & Utilization
- Power system operation & control
In order to familiarize the students with the latest industrial working environments, the students have to undergo seven months industrial training. This encourages them to develop team spirit, managerial ability and for tackling problems related to live projects.
