Human Body 3D Scanning Techniques
Here are some papers on various techniques of obtaining 3D data of humans and other objects. If you're interested
in this type of thing, some of the info in these papers may help you.
- Human body 3D imaging by speckle texture projection Excellent article for anyone
interested in scanning the human body for whatever reason. From Sensor Review, Volume 20, Number 3,2000, pp. 218-226
- Better Optical Triangulation through Spacetime Analysis From the abstract
"We present a new ranging method based on analyzing the time evolution of the structured light reflections.
Using our spacetime analysis, we can correct for each of these artifacts, thereby attaining significantly
higher accuracy using existing technology. We present results that demonstrate the validity of our
method using a commercial laser stripe triangulation scanner."
- Zippered Polygon Meshes from Range Images From the abstract
"Range imaging offers an inexpensive and accurate means for digitizing the shape of
three-dimensional objects. Because most objects self occlude, no single range image suffices
to describe the entire object. We present a method for combining a collection of
range images into a single polygonal mesh that completely describes
an object to the extent that it is visible from the outside."
