Charles Swan & Margaret Gold
1448 Shady Avenue
Pittsburgh, PA 15217

Dear Charles and Margaret,

No, I'm not a wonderful woman, just someone with both a brain and a heart. (It takes both, doesn't it, to do any good in this world?) But thanks for the kind thoughts.

Thanks so much also for the list of organizations and for the special note about the Center on Crime, Communities and Culture of the Open Society Institute. That sounds like a good lead. Many of the organizations on your list are on my list too.

Millue Barnet is back from Alabama (was able to visit the prison and take notes because of a homemade "NCX press pass"). But now I am engulfed in the next issue of NCX, so can't work on the letter to organizations yet.

Thanks also for the eTc Campaign material. I had already received it and it has been inserted into NCX in the prison section.

Now I come to a special, special plea pertaining to the prisoner who wrote the enclosed letters. I have been retyping the pertinent parts (he is blind, so makes typing errors) and have been sending them at each stage to individuals (including Donna Brorby) that I fantasized (mistakenly) could help. I can't let any possibility go untapped, so am turning to you now in desperation. Please, please, at least read through the letters I have been receiving from him since April 1999. He apparently has evidence galore. Someone should be giving him real help. If you have even a word of advice, please contact him. He is on my mind continually, but I can do nothing.

Thanks again for being there.

In the struggle,
Doret
