Nami is the ship's navigator, her dream is to draw a map of the world, she has orange hair and dark brown eyes, and she hides her staff under her skirt. She is the one who keeps the rest of the crew in line and is the one who gives out most of the orders(nami's more of a captin than Luffy) She loves money and tangerines which actually means she loves money and more money. She is 18. B-day: July 3 on Kani island but grew up in Cocoyashi.
Family Nami's mother, Bellemare, and her older sister, Nojiko, were not blood relatives. while Bellemare was in the marines she was badly wounded and was prepared to die when she looked up and saw a young girl carrying a baby, Bellemare took in the young girl and the baby she had found, the baby was Nami.
Arlong!! One day Arlong and his crew of mermen came to cocoyashi to get money to build their empire. After trying and failing to beat them Bellemare gave her only 100,000 beli to save Nami and Nojiko instead of herself because she couldn't pay for herself she was killed and Nami and Nojiko would never be hurt shortly after Along discovered that Nami was good at making maps so they made a deal, If she made maps for them they would sell her back cocoyashi village for 100,000,000 beli. so she set off to get the money after 8 years she almost had all the money untill Arlong sent the navy to collect it this caused Nami to ask Luffy for help who then beat the crap out of Arlong!!
Tangerines and Pinwheels Nami's family's one source of income was their tangerine grove which was the best around, they were very sweet. Tangerines symbolize wealth and prosperity thats way when Nami says "I like money and tangerines" she's accualy saying "I like money and more money". As for the pinwheel, when Nami was still a baby Genzo wanted to see her smile but every time he got near her she started to cry because he looked to scary so he put a pinwheel in his hat to make her laugh and to Bellemare's surprize it worked, Nami started to laugh. Genzo kept the pinwheel in his hat until Nami left with the Straw-Hat pirate crew. After she left there is a scene where they shows Bellemare's grave where Ganzo had placed a tangerine and pinwheel. Nami also got a tattoo of a pinwheel with a tangerine where Arlong's tattoo had been.
