-#1659 Heavy Conversion Unit, Topcliffe, Yorkshire. At HCUs crews
got to familiarize themselves with the four engine operational type bombers
they would be flying in combat.

H2S
first mention. H2S was an early form of Ground scanning radar that
enabled the crew to "see" some features of the topography
below them. It was crude and tempermental.
-Oct. 15&19, Fighter Affiliation, an execise in which
an Allied fighter would make mock attacks on the bomber to give the crew
training in vigilence, evasive flying and gunnery.
