Review Written by Carla

Neva Hafta by Eduardo Jackson is the sequel to Ever After. I did not read the first novel, however, after reading Neva Hafta, I definetely feel I did not miss much. Neva Hafta is a story about a brother named Nick who after he learns that his mother is dying from cancer, decides he wants to find a wife before his mother dies. The book goes into his many conquests and potential wives. The book starts off extremely slow, speeds up towards the late middle of the novel to the end. Then it leaves you hanging. I was frustrated with the character of Nick and the stupid decisions and situations he had gotten himself into. He kept on wondering why all his friends were able to find that soulmate, but would never look at himself and his shortcomings. The author could have saved the reader a lot of time and trouble and left a lot of things out. He thinks this Nick character is so interesting that he plans to add another novel to this series and a prequel. I definetely beg to differ. I found this book very tedious and a huge disappointment. I would not follow Nick through another book and I would not recommend this novel.

Just like the title said...Neva Hafta... I "Neva Hafta" to read anything else by Edwardo Jackson. I read Mr. Jackson's first novel and I was not impressed. I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt because this was a novel chosen by our reading group. As the Wayan Brothers once said..."Hated It". I could not believe that the last 5 pages of the book was the best part of the book and he had the nerve to have a "to be continued". I just know that this storyline will not be continued in my library.
