| Prologue The galaxy was large. It contained millions of planets, trillions of stars, and an uncountable number of inhabitants. The strange thing about all of it was that, for the most part, the galaxy was peaceful. There hadn't been a galactic civil war for thousands of years. Of course, there were always those who were greedy and those who wanted power, but not even they could disturb the galaxy out of its dream, the dream of peace. The galaxy had recently received a new government, the Galactic Empire. The Empire was run by a man named Emperor Palpatine. The Emperor's second-in-command was Darth Vader, a being who was once a man but was now more of a machine. These two governed the proud Empire, but not without opposition. Some of the galaxy's inhabitants didn't like their new government. These beings joined together into several small resistance groups. They broke the peace of the galaxy, claiming to return it later with an unconditional peace, one that would not be shattered by a corrupt government such as the Empire. It was the strong belief of many that the Rebels were rule breakers and that the Empire would crush them in time. It hasn't yet happened. The planets near the core of the galaxy were regarded as the most important. Coruscant, a planet that is one big city, was considered to be the capital of the galaxy. Worlds around Coruscant had shipyards and mining facilities. They were important to the galaxy's well-being. Next came the middle worlds, which were not near either the center nor the edge of the galaxy. These worlds held the wonder of the galaxy. There were many things to see on these planets and so much to do. The middle worlds received the benefit of government protection, as well. This protection consisted of several hundred troopers and ships per planet, which was enough to satisfy the local residents that they were well-protected against anything. Finally came the outer worlds. They sometimes contained very harsh environments, but were nonetheless populated by several intelligent species. However, they did not receive government protection. This was accepted, though, because most of the inhabitants were not even aware of any government. They lived without the pressures of the outside galaxy. Most knew nothing of the Galactic Empire or the Rebel Alliance. One such planet was called Endor. Endor was actually a forest moon. It was the home to a specied called the Ewoks. The Ewoks were a short bear-like race. They lived in their tree villages, which were built very high to discourage predators. They didn't need the height advantage, though. It was just a precaution. Their real guardian was a gigantic Clown. It was just as tall as their tallest village and stronger than any beast on Endor. The Clown protected them for a thousand years. Little did the Clown, the Ewoks, or the entire galaxy know that things were about to greatly change . . . * 1 * NEXT PAGE |
