The list of Front Men displayed below represent the
controversial way al-Saud enriched themselves at the expense of their
people and country. The most famous of all Industry Specific Front men was
Adnan Khashoggi who jumped onto the world scene with
splash and such extravaganza that his name still has an effect when we
hear it. Adnan was the consummate Front Man because he represented none
other than Sultan bin Abdul Aziz by purchasing
arms for Saudi Arabia and pocketing up to 40% in commissions for Sultan.
Sultan would pay him a certain percentage for his services. When the
contracts were for billions of Dollars, the commissions quickly became
sizable.
These Front Men were mostly Saudized a generation before or newly
Saudized (Citizens of Saudi Arabia). al-Saud discovered that foreign front
men were better equipped to deal with the west and the business practices
of the west.
This section will always be under construction. If
we have missed a name, please help us complete the list.
These men are the most important Front Men for al-Saud. Some
are deceased, some are inactive, and most are still fronting.
| IBRAHIM BROTHERS (COMMUNICATIONS & MEDIA,
TELECOMMUNICATIONS - CONSTRUCTION - ARMS - MONEY - Hadramout Origins -
Abdul Aziz bin Fahd - Active - Hated by all). Their sister is
married to King Fahd. The Ibrahims control a large fortune embezzled
by Fahd and given to his son Abdul Aziz. There is no business nor
industry that al-Ibrahim won't get involved in to get commissions.
These brothers have abused over and over their position with the King
and have taken advantage of everyone because of that relationship.
There is no one as hated and as disrespected in Saudi Arabia as this
family. They project the image that every respected and educated Saudi
tries to avoid. There is nothing they won't do for money. |
| KHALED BIN MAHFOUZ (MONEY - Hadramout Origins -
al-Saud Family - Active - Money launderer of the Family - Heads
National Bank - Controls a $45 billion fund). After
Prince Sultan visited Italy in September of 1997, Khaled bin Mahfouz
buys 2.2% of Banca di Roma, one of the largest Italian banks, for an
undisclosed amount. His partners on this deal are the Libyans and the
Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) who were major investors in BCCI.
This is the latest conquest by the al-Saud family who are branching
into worldwide banking in a noticeable way. Are they finding havens
for any black days? Or will they use the deposits of these banks to
borrow against worthless assets thus stealing more money from western
banks? |
| KAMAL ADHAM (POLITICS - Turkish Origins -
Brother-in-law to King Faisal - CIA man in the Middle East - Retired).
Discreet and efficient, Kamal Adham is the front man that
al-Saud wished all of them had his knack and intelligence. He was not
trusted by the Sudeiri Seven because of his loyalty to Faisal bin
Abdul Aziz, a non-Sudeiri but was instrumental in insuring that his
nephew Turki bin Faisal took his place when he semi-retired in 1982.
He still has a behind-the-scene role that shows his dexterity and
tenacity. |
| ALI BIN MUSSALLAM (POLITICS & ARMS - Hadramout
Shia'a - King Fahd - Active - Money launderer and secret keeper of the
family - Politically involved & motivated - Carries important
secret missions for al-Saud - Troubleshooter - More astute than the
whole Family combined). Ali is the Machiavelli of Saudi Arabia.
This Shiite Bedouin had everything working against him: his religion
and his origins, yet managed to get the trust of King Fahd and Sultan
bin Abdul Aziz. He has mixed politics with business very well to
produce a wealth of over $2b. No enemy has been able to remove him
from the effectiveness of his services to al-Saud. He has partnered
with Mohammed al-Amoudi and Khalid bin Mahfouz on many commissions
oriented deals so much that Naef investigated him for his greed and
the Banque of France (the central bank governed by the
French Government) delivered his personal accounts information to
Naef. Mussallam circumvented Akram Ojjeh in 1990 and brought SGS
Thomson to Saudi Arabia for an arms deal. Now he is embroiled in the
latest investigation of France's ex-Defense Minister, Leotard. It was,
according to reliable reports, Mussallam who paid the Ffr 5,000,000
for Balladur's campaign in 1996. |
| ADNAN KHASHOGGI (ARMS - Syrian origins - Sultan bin
Abdul Aziz - Retired). Of all the front men al-Saud recruited,
Khashoggi was not only the first but the most interesting, one of the
smartest, and the one that lived the best. A globe trotting, jet
setting businessman whose acquaintances and close friends included
president, kings, queens, prime ministers, etc.. He has retired ever
since other middle men with less conspicuous lifestyle ate away at his
share and close relations with the maker of front men Sultan bin Abdul
Aziz. Today, he lives in total serenity in Saudi Arabia protected by
King Fahd. |
| FAHD ATHEL (ARMS - Nejdi - Mohammed bin Fahd). Athel
is Mohammed's answer to the Ojjehs and Saids of the world of Sultan
bin Abdul Aziz. Representing the interests of Mohammed bin Fahd, he
has embarked on purchasing arms for Saudi Arabia from Washington for a
period during Mohammed's foray into arms commissions. Close associate
of Said Ayas. Has hired the British MP Jonathan Aitken for Mohammed. |
| AKRAM OJJEH (ARMS - Syrian Origins - Sultan bin
Abdul Aziz - Deceased). He was the man that replaced Khashoggi
and was able to deliver French arms and technology to Saudi Arabia.
His contract with SOFRESA guarantees him a lifetime 7% commission on
any spare parts or additional weapons. That contract is managed by his
son Mansour, who has inherited the business and the relationships with
Sultan. Akram was a very careful player who did his best to protect
his mentor Sultan and his interests. Akram was known
for his loyalty, kind heart and love of Sultan as do his sons today. |
| MANSOUR OJJEH (ARMS - Syrian/French - Sultan bin
Abdul Aziz - Active). A very quiet and successful businessman.
Mansour has built an empire that include Tag-Heuer world renown watch
company. He is an avid Formula One team owner. He inherited, with his
brother Aziz, most of their father's money. Trustworthy, honest, and
private. Today, he lives between Riyadh, Paris, and Los Angeles. |
| WAFIC SAID (ARMS - Syrian Origins - Bandar bin
Sultan - Active). His family founded Damascus University. From
opening a university by his family to starting a cabaret in London
called Caravanserai, he is the black sheep of his
family. He got close to Sultan when his son drowned in one of Sultan's
swimming pools. Sultan took him under his protection and Bandar
carried it further by playing an in-between to his father. |
| MOUAFAC ALMIDANI (TELECOMMUNICATIONS - Syrian
Origins - Mohammed bin Fahd - Deceased). Suffered throughout
his life in building a business. Became the Front man to Mohammed bin
Fahd on his first contract to build the telecommunications
infrastructure of Saudi Arabia. His loyalty is legendary and was
trusted up to the point of using his yacht by King Fahd's wife. Died
of the cancer of the pancreas in Los Angeles. On his death bed, Aawali
Kayal, the ex-minister of telecommunications of Saudi Arabia had him
sign a $150 million transfer to his personal account. Almidani's children
are fighting Kayal in court to recover the money. |
| SABHI AL-MASRI (FOOD - Palestinian Origins - Khaled
bin Sultan - Active). His assistant, Nafis Oudah, also
Palestinian was the man that took the fall after the Gulf War for the
catering scandal that literally brought Khalid bin Sultan an estimated
$2 to $7 billion. Oudah actually went to jail for a month or so before
he was released after the pleading of Masri with Khaled and his
all-powerful daddy. Sabhi today tags along Yasser
Arafat showing him how to do business the Saudi way. |
| ISSAM FARES (FOOD - Lebanese Origins - Turki bin
Abdul Aziz - Inactive). He was the manager of the Abela
Catering company in the kingdom, which is truly owned by Turki. Fares
has literally escaped from Saudi Arabia with a reported couple of
hundreds of millions of dollars belonging to Turki and is said to be
eyeing Lebanon's Presidency. Turki has filed law suits against him in
Jeddah, Paris, and Geneva. It is said that he is one of handful of
Christians holding a Saudi nationality. |
| NAFIS OUDAH (FOOD - Palestinian - Khaled bin Sultan
- Recently inactivated) |
| RAFIC HARIRI (CONSTRUCTION - Lebanese Prime
Minister - King Fahd - Active). Reported to be the owner of
Saudi Oger, the company that built Saudi Arabia but in reality, he is
just a front man for Fahd who is the true owner of the company. It is
true that in the company books of the Ministry of Commerce he is
listed as the majority shareholder of this company, but in reality is
just a front with his son Saad. Hariri is only (or was) the
administrator of Saudi Oger for the king. Another interesting note is
that there is NOT ONE REAL SAUDI in the senior staff positions of the
company ! All foreigners, from the vice-president who is a
Kurdish-Iraqi to all the heads of the various departments who are
mostly all Lebanese! It is unconfirmed, but it is said that it was on
the instructions of the king that no NATIVE NATIONAL be employed in
the higher echelon of the company. Hariri has embroiled Lebanon,
during his tenure, into an economic upheaval due to his lavish
spending from borrowed money. Lebanon owed $1b in debt prior to Hariri
and today owes $20b. |
| GAITH PHARON (CONSTRUCTION - Syrian - Independent -
Inactive). A main figure in the BCCI scandal even though he
played a minor role compared to Khaled bin Mahfouz and others. Lives
between Saudi Arabia and Syria. Escapes Interpol by taking his yacht
to international waters. Syrian intelligence warns him ahead of time.
His father was a close advisor to King Faisal and builder of
Saudi politics. |
| MOHAMMED FOUSTOQ (CONSTRUCTION - Syrian Origins -
Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz - Inactive) |
| ROBERT MOUAWAD (JEWELRY - Lebanese - |
| SAID AYAS (EVERYTHING - Syrian Origins - Mohammed
bin Fahd - Recently inactivated) |
| MAHMOUD MALHAS (Palestinian - |
| IYAD KAYALI (Syrian - |
