The Scout membership was at it lowest., however the "die hards" who remained had a big advantage. They were well trained, especially in leadership skills and Anthony Dyer was still present. In an attempt to arrest the ebb in the group's membership, Anthony Dyer, along with the PArent Committee, particularly Mrs. Dorothy Spears, and Lynley Lutchmedial embarked on a massive recruitment drive. This drive included every Primary school in San Fernando and Marabella.
On May 30th, 1980, theis recruitment drive had the largest intake of recruits. Over 65 boys registered to join. The "wharf" was buzzing with excitment as each week more parents stayed on to watch their boys in action. With this increase in numbers, two young leaders came forward, Anthony Spears, and Carlstein Lutchmedial. The process of rebuilding had began, and the seventh Caribbean Jamboree was due in August of that same year, which also acted as a catalyst for productivity. With the return of Dave Gopaul, the combined scouting years of leaders were over fifty.
