Raphael is most well known for his role in the book of
Tobit. Most of the knowledge we have
of Raphael comes from sources other than the bible. The book of Tobit is considered
non-canonical to the Hebrew canon, apocryphal to the Protestant scripture,
and canonical to the Catholic religion.
In the book of Tobit Raphael reveals himself by name, and says he is
one of the 7 holy angels that attend the throne of God. In Enoch 1, Raphael is listed as one of
the watchers, a guide in Sheol, and one of the four presences set over all
the diseases and all the wounds of men.
Raphael is one of the three angels who visited Abraham on the way to
destroy
Two Pictures of the Archangel Raphael.
