Andrews Family

1.George Phillip Andrews, Sr. believed to be born in England, married Catherine Harris from Germany. They were believed to have been married in Clarindon, Arkansas. The only child I have listed is George,jr. It is said that after George,Sr died, Catherine burned all of Mr. Andrews' things just before remarrying.

2.George Phillip Andrews, Jr. birthplace unknown (probably in Arkansas) married Amanda Jane Panky (said to be of Irish descent and from Indiana). They were married in Clarendon, Arkansas. and Amanda died in 1952. They had the following 3 children.

i.*Charles Walter born September 1,1887 in Arkansas. He married Maudie Clarinda Hunter born January 26,1893. She was the daughter of Anderson Hunter and Sabra Kenner Arnold Hunter(see note 1 at end of page). They were married in Clarendon/Monroe County, Arkansas. Charles died in 1968 in Pompano Beach/Broward County,Florida. Maudie Clarinda died February 16,1971 in Pompano Beach, Florida. Both Charles and Maudie were members of The First Babtist Church of DesArc and of North Pompano Beach Babtist Church. Both are buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Pompano Beach, Florida (on Copans Road). They had 7 children.
ii.Fred died very young and didn't have any kids.
iii.Fanny died young and didn't have any kids either.

3.Charles and Maudie had the following 7 children.

i.*Carolus Wallace Andrews (Sr) born March 6, 1911 in Gregory,Arkansas married Anagene Jacobs born June 1,1914 in Weldon, Arkansas. They were married February 12, 1913 in Augusta,Arkansas. Carolus (Pappy) died March 19, 1965 in Pompano Beach, Florida. He is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Pompano Beach. Anagene (Nana) died June 14.1999 in Union County, North Carolina and is buried at Sunset Memory Gardens in Charlotte/Mecklenburg County, North Carolina--right next to my mom (her youngest daughter)
ii.William Fred born September 24,1914 in Arkansas, died young and didn't have any children.
iii.Ruby Catherine born June 25, 1915 in Arkansas married 1st Troy Hoke and 2nd Lennord Dew (Uncle Len). She died in 1997 in Broward County, Florida. Aunt Ruby never had any children. I lived with with Len and Ruby, for about a month. It was a year before my mom died. and they were some wonderful people who influenced my life. Aunt Retha lived there too.
iv.Earnest Wyatt born November 4,1919 in Arkansas died young and didn't have any children.
v.Retha Mae (guess who I got my unique name from?)was born June 26, 1920 in Arkansas. First she married Durwood Turnage. Mr. Turnage and my Aunt Retha never had any kids together because when Retha got pregnant and told Mr. Turnage about it, he beat the baby out of her and so,she could never have kids. I am my (great)Aunt's only kid, cause my mom shared me with her. Retha's second husband was much nicer. He was Michael Autuori (sp?). Uncle Mickey worked as a trombonist with the Jackie Gleason show. He was born February 2, 1911 (belive to be in Brooklyn) and died May 29, 1968. He is burried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York. He moved to Pompano Beach in 1957 and owned and operated the Saigon Motel. Aunt Retha died June 18, 2001 (5 days after my baby girl Rebecca was born). I wish they would have gotten to know one another, I would have shared Becca with her.
vi.George Phillip born September 20,1928 in Des Arc, Arkansas married and had 3 kids. I am not going to name them, because I believe they are still all alive. He died December 26, 1982 when he tried to stop a guy from being mean to a young lady in the bar he was at. A 'bar fight' ensued and the bartender-on accident-shot my uncle.
vii.I am not going to name this Great UNCLE because he is still alive along with his current wife and all his kids are still alive. This uncle was born April 22,1933 in Des Arc, Arkansas.

4. Carolus and Anagene had the following children.

i. Carolus Wallace Andrews, Jr. This uncle was born September 30, 1937 in Revels, Arkansas. His first wife: Jeanette Robertson.(They had 4 kids together). It's so bad when divorces have to be so hard on families. She and I are best of friends now.And most days she and I are playing games together at Pogo or are doing family tree stuff.
ii. Carolyn Andrews "Teenie" was born August 22, 1935 in Revels, Arkansas. She married Lee Ross Evans, Sr. He was born November 26, 1934 in Monroe, Union County, North Carolina and died January 29, 2000. (That was a very cold day too. I think I remember ice on the ground). They had three children together. 2 are still alive, so I will not mention them without their permission. I want to remember their brother here though. Lee Ross Evans, Jr. born November 17, 1965 in Broward County, Florida. He died December 16, 1976 also in Broward. He was struck by a car on his way to the neighborhood convenence store. The boy driving the car was going a little too fast and not paying very good attention for the speed he was driving. So just a little reminder to try to keep more attention to your driving. It was a freak accident and I dont blame anyone. We all miss you Ross!!
iii.*Clarinda Lee Andrews was born March 21, 1941 in Fort Laudeerdale, Broward County, Florida. She married My Dad on March 15, 1959 in Pompano Beach, Florida. She was a wonderful mom, loving wife and a devoted friend to all who knew her. She died January 14, 1986 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dad had her body flown to Charlotte, NC, where she was burried at Sunset Memory Gardens a week later. At the funeral home, the viewing line was out the door and around the building. It took hours to finish. That's what it was like at my Father-in-law's funeral too. Many lives have been changed by the loss of my mom. We love and miss you.

Note 1:Maudie Clarinda Hunter's parents were Anderson Hunter and Sabra Kenner Arnold. Anderson and Sabra had 5 children:

i.Mary who married Jack Allen and had the following children...Woodroe,Willis, and Edith.
ii.Willie who married a lady named Mary. They had the following children...Vurlen (who died giving his life for his country), and Mittie.
iii.Charlie who married (?). They had the following children...Cecil, Val, Nettie and Fern.
iv.Naomi who married Oscar Hagar and had the following children...Ottis, Emmette, Shelby, Earnestine, Necie, Virginia Earl, and Thurmon.
v.*Maudie Clarinda Hunter (my maternal Great Grandmother).

Thanks so much for letting me tell you a different version of my family tree. I felt it wasn't cut and dry and just the facts ma'am. With this page different than the others that I have made, I feel you got to know a little more of me and my family. Have a great day, Ya'll!!!
