Both missed the entire season last year due to injuries. The team captain, MacDonald had a strong return to the ice with the physical play and scoring that is expected of the power forward. Two new comers to the Paladins also had a big impact on the ice, 5th year senior and masters transfer, Tyler Middlebrook, displayed a deft scoring touch that made him the 3rd leading score for the University of Toronto last year. 17 year old Ryan McInerney netted 3 goals in his RMC debut. On defence Brent Maurice and rookie Todd Simpson led the way for the Paladins, while in goal Blair Robertson got the start but did not see much action. The game featured some big hit as the Paladins displayed their physical side which lead to a lot of open ice later in the game. As the game wore on there was some chippy play from both teams but they settled down as the buzzer sounded at the end of the third period. The game was played in front of about 150 fans as there were a large number of Ex-Cadets in Kingston for the weekend. |
