Summary: RMC opened the scoring 10 seconds into the opening frame on a goal by Nick Cregan. Utica responded with a goal of their own until Roman Srutek put RMC up 2-1. Utica scored late in the first to settle the score at 2. RMC came out strong in the second and took a 3-2 lead on a PP goal by Tyler Middlebrook. However Utica evened things up on the power play and then tallied again to take a 4-3 lead into the third period. RMC saved their best period for the third and outshot Utica 20-9 in the final frame. Utica held a 4-3 lead until half way through the third when Ryan McInerney scored on the PP on a nice feed from Brent Maurice. The two teams played 5min of overtime with each team exchanging chances but neither team scored.
Game note: The game vs Utica was played at the same arena that the hockey classic ‘Slapshot’ was filmed.

Summary: Manhattanville scored first on the power play and led until Tyler McTavish scored on a wrister from the top of the circles. Brent Maurice put RMC up 2-1 on a point blast from a faceoff and RMC took a 2-1 lead into the second period. RMC had a poor showing in the second period and gave up three goals, two of them while shorthanded. Manhattanville scored again in the third to go up 5-2. Josh Fudge scored on a great feed from Ryan McInerney and the game finished 6-3. RMC never recovered from a penalty filled second period in a game which featured 94min in penalty minutes under the NCAA’s new initiative to call the game by the book.
RMC begins the regular season at home on Saturday at 1400 against the Brock Badgers. RMC finished the preseason 2-1-1-1.
