Obituary for William D. Yarnell

William D. Yarnell, age 97, of 625 E. Monroe St., Cuba, Illinois, formerly of Farmington, Illinois, died at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba. Born Aug. 24, 1900, in Cuba to Will and Cora Taylor Yarnell, he married Mary Churchill on Oct. 21, 1926, in Carthage, Illinois. She died Jan. 30, 1936. He married Anna Melz on Jan. 27, 1944, in Elmwood. She died Oct. 9, 1987. One daughter, Audrey Kreighbaum, and one sister preceded him in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Alice Kuzniar and Ellen Courtney, both of Cuba; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was a self-employed farmer in the Farmington area for 65 years and taught in rural Fulton county and Peoria county schools. He worked in coal mines for several years and was an amateur botanist. He lived in rural Farmington for 70 years.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home, Farmington. The Rev. Randy McGeehon will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Brunswick Cemetery, rural Trivoli, Peoria Co., Illinois.
