A funeral service for Clyde E. "Skip" Yarnell, 72, of Parkersburg, W.Va., will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lambert-Tatman south Funeral Home, with the Rev. J. Wayne Terry officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden. Skip died Dec. 8, 2004, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Clyde Carl and Ida V. McConaha Yarnell.

Skip was a member of Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Local Union 565 of Parkersburg, a Korean War Army veteran, and he attended WVUP and OSU at Zanesville. He was a graduate of West Virginia Institute of Technology of Montgomery, W.Va. He taught at WVUP and Washington State College and retired from Washington State College as department head and a welding instructor.

Skip is survived by his wife of 51 years, Helen Comer Yarnell; one son, Larry and wife, Selma Friesel, of Utica; two daughters, Linda Carpenter of Washington, W.Va., and Julie and husband, Paul Collins, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; grandchildren, Christy and John Preston of Utica, Dyan and Jeff Quesenberry of Pace, Fla., Jon Carpenter of Washington, W.Va., and Matt and Erica Collins of Parkersburg, W.Va.; five great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Grant and Daniel Preston of Utica, Christopher Quesenberry of Pace, Fla., and Juliana Rose Ellison of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Bill and wife, Ethel Yarnell, of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Gary "Rick" and wife, Bernadine Yarnell, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one sister, Betty Jackson of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Richard Carpenter; and one brother-in-law, Clair Jackson. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
