Ruth M. Yarnall, a retired Philadelphia school teacher, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 1983. She was 89 and lived most of her life in West Philadelphia. Yarnall, the former Ruth Jefferson, taught in public schools for 44 years. She was a graduate of the old Kutztown Normal School and taught kindergarten through eighth grade. She retired in 1965 and moved to Drexel Hill, Delaware County, Penn., in 1971. Yarnall was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Madrigal Singers and a 50-year member of Drexel Hill Chapter 497, Order of the Eastern Star.

She was married to the late Newton L. Yarnall. She is survived by a son, Ben Jefferson Yarnall, and a grandson, Walter Newton Yarnall.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Johnston Funeral Home, 69 E. Baltimore Ave., Lansdowne, Delaware County, where friends may call one hour earlier. Eastern Star services will be at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville, Montgomery County, Penn.
