Robert Walker Yarnell, age 80, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, died Friday November 29, 2002 at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born June 9, 1922 in Hutchinson, Reno Co., Kansas to the late Leo and Cora Walker Yarnell. Mr. Yarnell attended Hutchinson Junior College for two years until he entered the United States Army during WWII. He served in the European Theater with the 342nd Medical Detachment of the U.S. Army 186th Infantry Division. After the war he enrolled at Kansas State University where he received his bachelors degree in mechanical engineering. Mr. Yarnell worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. in Liberal, Kansas, for 35 years until his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed playing golf and was a past member of the Men�s 18-Hole Golf Association. He was also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Village Men�s Chorus, HSV Symphony Guild, HSV Choir, the Village Concert Association and Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines.

In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by a brother, Warren Yarnell.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marie Platt Yarnell; two sons and daughters-in-law Gregory and Maribeth Yarnell of Wichita, KS and Christopher and Gay Yarnell of Columbus, OH; a daughter Kimberly Miller of Liberal, KS; seven grandchildren Adam, Bethany, Jessica, Preston and Sarah Yarnell, and Brian and Jody Miller; one nephew Kent Yarnell.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines with Dr. Michael D. Seitz and Rev. Sam H. Pope officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the music fund at Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines, 275 Asturias Drive, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas 71909.
