Obituary for Mabel S. Yarnell

Mabel S. Yarnell, 90, died at 10:40 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2006, at York County Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Robert H. Yarnell.

Born August 8, 1916, in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Melinda (Judy) Markle. Mabel was a retired seamstress from Danskin, Inc. with 18 years of service, and from Hellam Frocks with 13 years of service. She was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ and was an avid bingo player.

Surviving are two sons, John W. Yarnell of York and Robert E. Yarnell of Thomasville; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchilldren; a brother, Robert Markle of York; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Joanne Davies; and two sisters, Joanne and Ruth Markle.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Columbia. Family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery office at 10:15 a.m. Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, is in charge of the arrangements.
