Leon Yarnell 1920 - 2000

Leon P. Yarnell, 79, Erie, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at the Arkhaven Resident Care Home in Erie. He had been in failing health the past year.
He was born October 9, 1920, in Erie, the son of Perry Edward and Lillie Mae (Smith) Yarnell. He lived in the Erie area all his life.
He farmed and worked for the Neosho County Highway Department. He was a member of the Church of God, Chanute.
On Aug. 29, 1941, he married Roberta Ann Basler, in Erie, and she survives.
He also is survived by a son, Leland, of Erie; three daughters, Lillian Irene Wadeking, of Hartford, Ill., Patricia Bammann, Erie, and Barbara Eck, Pittsburg; a brother Eugene, of Butler, Mo.; four sisters, Glenda Reeves, Pittsburg, and Lucy Tredway, Susie McDermed and Nona Sanders, all of Erie; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil, Howard and Lloyd; three sisters, Gladys Ritz, Ednadora Yarnell and his twin Letha Bohrer; and two grandsons, Porter A. Bammann and Robert W. Bammann.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday (Sept. 1, 2000) at the Temple Baptist Church, Erie, with the Rev. Bill Bingham officiating. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery, Erie.
