Corrections & Additions to
“A Partial Genealogy of the Name Yarnall-Yarnell 1683-1970"
Page 1 - According to the observation of Mike Yarnold, who lives in
Worcestershire, the inscription in the window actually reads:
"ORATE PRO ANIMA JOHANNES ET JOHANA YARNOLD UXOR EIUS"
Page 2 - The date, 4 August 1686, was the date when Francis
Yarnall and Hannah Baker passed Darby Meeting the second
time (i.e., second intentions). The marriage date would have
been later in 1686. The original marriage certificate has been
lost and no record has been found in Monthly Meeting records.
Page 3 - The husband of Sarah Yarnall, daughter of Francis
and Hannah, is given as William Askew, not Samuel Askew, in Chester
Monthly Meeting records. Mary (Smedley) Edge was the
daughter of George and Sarah Smedley. Chester Monthly Meeting record gives
Amos Yarnall’s birthdate as 1-28-1700 (i.e., a Julian date in
accordance with the then current calendar. 3-28-1700 is the
transliteration to Gregorian calendar.
Mary (Ashbridge) Yarnall’s death date should be
11/20/1745/6; i.e., 20 Feb. 1745 in Julian numbers,
20 Feb. 1745/6 as dates are normally written in the later
Gregorian calendar.
