A six year veteran of the force. Fatally shot when he stopped
four teenagers after recognizing one of them on a felony warrant for his arrest. He radioed in saying he was going to contact the people walking. When backup arrived
they found him lying on the street, gun still in holster and shot twice.
He had just achieved the rank of master police officer and was a field training officer. He was the second officer since 1959 to die in the line of duty in Des Moines.
He leaves behind his wife and a two year old son.
Suspect has been arrested.
