Background

Zangief is a fun loving wrestler from Russia. Bored with the lack of competition in his country, he enters the Street Fighter Tournament searching for worthy competators.

Opinion

Zangief become my favorite Street Fighter character from day one. Zangief can be described by the 3 S's; "Slow", "Sluggish", and "Strong". Zangief is a grappler type character, which means he needs to be extremly close to a character to inflict maximum damage. Getting close to an opponent to inflict damage may seem like a disadvantage till you realize Zangief's most damaging move, the feared "Spinning Piledriver", is an unblockable attack. I can remember back in the day when people would only use Ryu or Blanka and ridicule the use of any other characters. I enjoyed the fact that people understimated my Zangief, it would make my victories that much sweeterr.
