

He was Mustered In on the 25th of May 1861. He was promoted to Corporal on the 27th of October 1862.
He was Killed In Action (KIA) at Fair Oaks, Va. on the 31st of May 1862.
He was laid to rest in the Seven Pines National Cemetery, in Seven Pines Va. in Grave No. 372.

"The COMMANDING OFFICER of the Second REGIMENT of Michigan Infantry To all who shall see these presents, greeting: Know Ye: That reposing special trust and confidence in the patriotism, valor, fidelity and abilities of Coroden S. Burge, Prvt. I do hereby appoint him Corporal in Company K of the Second Regiment of Mich. Vols. Inftry in the service of the United States, to rank as such from the 27th day of May, one thousand eight hundred and Sixty Two. He is therefore carefully and diligently to discharge the duty of Corporal by doing and performing all manner of things thereunto belonging. And I do strictly charge and require all Non Commissioned Officers and Soldiers under his command to be obedient to his orders as Corporal. And he is to observe and follow special orders and directions from time to time as he shall receive from me, or the future Commanding Officer of the Regiment or other Superior Officer and Non Commissioned Officers set over him, according to the rules and discipline of War. This Warrant to continue in force during the pleasure of the Commanding Officer of the Regiment for the time being. GIVEN under my hand at the Head Quarters of the Regiment at Camp in the Field, VA., this Twenty Seventh day of May, in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty Two. "Mrs. Burge, I have the pleasure of forwarding to you the last memento of your son Corpl. Coroden S. Burge of Co. K. 2nd Mich. Vol. who fell at my side at the Battle of Fair Oaks. His name will ever be remembered with honor by the remaining members of his company and those that had the pleasure of his acquaintance.
