What Is Emacs? Technical Overview.

Some Commands Used IN EMACS are listed below.

Operation Procedure
Save C-x C-s
Quit C-x C-c
Write To new file C-x C-w
Cut C-w
Copy M-w
Paste C-y
Kill Buffer C-x C-k
Compile VHDL C-c C-k
Select Block C-SPC
Undo C _
Undo command ESC ESC ESC
  C-g

Explaination:
SAVE
    To save you use C-x C-s ( ^XS) Press CTRL, simultaneously X and S.
    You may also first Pres ^X and then ^S.

When using M, the meta key, you can press ALT and simultaneously press the key. If you do not want to use M key the press ESC once then press the key combination.

SPC is Space-Bar. and RET is the largest key other than space bar on your keyboard.

C-c enters into mode specific command.

C-x are file specific commands.
