bands i have known...
for the really masochistic of you out there, i present you with a somewhat definitive listing of the bands i have been in, including any member's names i remember, what kind of music we played, and some of the songs we massacred...i mean, mastered. eventually, if i find any of the tapes (fat chance) i may encode a few as really really low bitrate samples for you to check out. if i do, you will have to sign and send in a disclaimer prior to listening absolving me of any responsibility should you go deaf as a result of hearing the music...
threshhold (not the popular progressive band, nor the moody blues label) bill k. -- vocals tony basich -- guitars sean hildebrant -- drums ??? -- bass (i can't remember his name) music played: actually nothing. this was intended as a progressive styled band, but it never went further than paper. each time we gathered to rehearse something would come up and we never did play. sigh...
sonic sludge (gotta love the name!!!) bill k. -- vocals tony basich -- guitars sean hildebrant -- drums music played: deathy, sludgy metal. hugs hanging slabs of guitar chords and feedback, drums that sounded like an engine without motor oil, and me screaming unintelligable ravings about demons and ancient curses over it all. no tapes exist, but damn it was fun. the most fun i had in a band, up until that point...
ricocheting brain cell (another award winning name) (a.k.a. bill's lost weekend...you'll see why) bill k. -- vocals tim arnold -- guitars ??? -- guitars ??? -- bass dan ??? -- drums as you can tell, i don't remember anyone really in this band. i'd be certain it didn't happen if it weren't for the fact that somewhere i know i have lyrics lying around for a few aborted songs we tried. i have clear memories of playing several cover songs in the basement of one of the guys in the band, including helter skelter (beatles). also many many meals at perkins too...
the side effects bill k. -- vocals, rhythm guitar mark leone -- lead/rhythm guitar rob oates -- bass ??? -- drums music played: well, we were unique. from over the top alterna-metal stylings, to drone-y eastern/bob mould inspired psychedelia, to pop fluff, we did it all. there were two originals written for this band, one called 'set adrift...' which was the drone-y eastern/bob mould-ish stuff (i wrote the music and the lyrics to this one!) and one called 'it's my fault (yeah)', which was the ironic alterna-pop fluff bit (i wrote the lyrics). we actually had a pretty diverse set list for shows, including the lounge band cover of the misfits 'last caress.' we even played a show with almost 100 people attending. several tapes supposedly still exist, of our rehersals, of the show, and several multi-tracks of the original tracks and some christmas songs...you shoulda heard our death metal version of 'silent night'...
if you are any of the people listed above, and want to add your memories of being in any of these bands, please do not hesitate at all to contact me!
