NEWS THEMES
Composed by Frank Gari, this theme is called "Turn To
News" AKA "Turn To 3" and was first composed for
WKYC-TV Channel 3 News in Cleveland, Ohio. WKYC originally
contracted to have that package created (a year or two before
1984). It was called "Turn to 3" because that was
WKYC's slogan. When WXYZ in Detroit bought it, they had Frank
rewrite the lyrics as "Stand Up and Tell 'Em You're From
Detroit." Jerry Smith Productions did the film campaign.
The theme was used in stations ALL OVER the country, primarily
on the East Coast. It was used on WGHP in High Point, NC, KYW-TV
in Philadelphia, WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh, WVEC in Norfolk, VA, and
WPEC-TV in West Palm Beach, Florida. In fact, WPEC and WKYC had
an update for the package made in 1987. By the way, Frank
recently retired the "Turn To" package.

This package has been primarily used on Hearst-Argyle Television
Stations. This theme was used by WBAL-TV in Baltimore,
WCVB in Boston and WISN-TV in Milwaukee
